Monica has been playing flute since she was 10 years old. She played flute in high school wind ensemble, marching band, various solo competitions as well as in the orchestra for three years of high school musicals. Music dominated her high school career and she even had short stints on marching mellophone and alto sax in the jazz band. She went on to study flute in the College of Music at University of Colorado, Boulder. Although she graduated with a BA in Psychology and made her career in social work, flute continues to be a special passion in her life as she has played in weddings, taught several young flute players, played in various church performances and is now a regular member of the orchestra in the Parker United Methodist’s annual production of Handel’s Messiah. Monica is proud to say her 9-year-old daughter has just recently picked up playing the flute as well.
